The KC raised $450 for The Red Nose Day Fund!
Second grade KC members learned about child poverty and worked hard to spread the word around Castlewood. Students made posters and AM morning announcement speeches to encourage students and staff to contribute to the Red Nose Day Fund.
All the money we collected went directly to providing help to kids that really need it. We are SO PROUD to have raised $450. We wore our noses with big smiles on May 25th – partly because it felt silly, but mostly because we NOSE that our kindness changed the lives of others.
Thank you to all who donated!
Congratulations to all of last week’s K-2 Math Bee participants. You were 100% amazing!
The Kindness Committee had a surprise in store for the third, fourth, and fifth graders that woke-up this morning feeling nervous about the ELA test. Students and teachers were lined up, pom-poms waving, chanting a very important message:
“Don’t sweat the test! Just try your best!”
Nerves subsided as students walked through and aisle of colorful pom-poms and received high-fives and good luck wishes.
Once a month, Castlewood’s Kindness Committee visits Centerlight Senior Center to spread kindness to the seniors that spend their days there. These senior-junior relationships have brought great joy to both parties. While seniors delight in the children’s energy, enthusiasm, and acts of kindness, the students experience the intrinsic value of performing kind acts for others and make new connections about life, their elders, and their community.
On our most recent trip, Kindness Committee members shared a book about friendship. Senior-junior partnerships than discussed themes within friendship, including stories from their own life experiences. Groups then enjoyed a friendly game of Family Feud. Fun was had by all!
Enjoy these photos from our experience!
