What a pleasure it has been greeting returning students and getting to know the newly enrolled.
This September I have spent a great deal of time getting to know our youngest students. Thanks to our supportive Pre-Kindergarten team, the students have adjusted to their new surroundings very quickly, and there are no more tears as the parents bring their children to the gym! Don’t worry Moms and Dads, they still miss you while you are gone. For this reason, the Pre-K team will find a variety of ways to make your presence felt in the classroom. Look for notices regarding parent-child projects in your child’s folder soon.
On a related note, Castlewood has been selected by CSD 26 to host a professional learning series called Go Pre-K! This series will gather Pre-K teachers from across the district to study developmentally appropriate ways to support literacy in the Pre-K classroom and to communicate these ideas to the families. This collaborative learning series is an exciting new opportunity for Pre-K teams, and we are fortunate to be leading the way.
If this September was any indication of the year ahead, 2016-17 is going to be an amazing school year! I look forward to experiencing it with you.
